While downtown you can also stroll along the Riverwalk and scenic paths of the Gaudalupe River or go on a historical building tour of structures that date back to 1869. If the local shops don’t have what you need, the River Hills Mall is a new development that has the convenience of one stop shopping for all your needs. For a small city, Kerrville has plenty of means to entertainment. Visit the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center for art classes, cultural programs, and art exhibits in everything from wood carving to watercolors. The small community of Kerrville is not about to be left behind in the fields of technology and education. Kerrville’s new technologically advanced hospital is a prime example. The state of the art facility of Peterson Regional Medical Center, which opened in April 2008, features 125 rooms that are all “private” with flat screen televisions and wireless internet access. The Peterson Regional Medical Center is the new branch that replaced the previous nationally recognized Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital. Kerrville State Hospital is also available for residents’ medical needs.
The Kerrville Independent School District is also making strides to stay ahead of the curve. The KISD has continually tested high, and even bettered the state scores in all subjects in 2006 and 2007. Schools like Hill Country High School are even using alternative teaching approaches such as computer-assisted programs and one-on-one teaching activities so that students can learn at their own pace.
