Kerr County Real Estate

Established in 1856, Kerr County rests in the hill country of central Texas.  One of the things residents of Kerr County value the most of the vast amount of scenic space they live in.  With a population of just 46,496 and 1,108 square miles of land, residents enjoy having only 41 other people in their square mile.  Considering that the Texas average is more than 80 people per square mile, Kerr County offers a bounty of outdoor areas to explore, and activities to enjoy.

Kerr County’s county seat and largest city is Kerrville.  Much like its county seat, Kerr County has amazing home affordability.  There are 20,228 homes in the county, of which 13,059 homes are owner occupied.  The median home sales price of $131,614, is extremely attractive to home buyers who are used to the national median home sales price of $217,800.  For a relatively small amount people are able to live in a county with beautiful views, low crime rates, a good educational system, tons of entertainment and recreational distractions, and of course wide open space.

Kerr County residents are proud of the area’s rich historical past, and pristine natural surroundings.  Camping, canoeing, white water paddling, hiking, biking, and skiing are just some of the activities the many lakes and parks offer, and animal lovers can catch a glimpse of the over 32 wild game, some of them exotic, that roam Kerr County.  The county has also ensured that culture and art would flourish in the area.  The Hill Country Museum and the Museum of Western Art serve as community cultural resources as well as the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center located in Kerrville.  Kerr County is also home to the Kerrville Folk Festival, the longest continuously running folk festival in North America.

Kerrville accounts for nearly half of Kerr County’s population.  However, Kerr County also serves the incorporated city Ingram, as well as the unincorporated cities of Center Pointe and Hunt and the communities of Camp Verde and Mountain Home.
